The video was put together just after the ‘Summer Riots’ in 2012. It is attempting to work on two levels. Firstly, by illustrating the difference in opportunity between the ‘Haves’ and ‘Have-nots’ in society and how this is not determined by any personal characteristics such as intelligence, personality, motivation or anti-social gene. It is purely an accident of birth, mainly brought about by who your parents are and their social and environmental circumstances. The less privileged are written-off as scroungers and anti-social parasites.
Secondly, can we expect the ‘underclass’ to remain silent? We are currently paying them to keep quiet; a social payment sufficient to cover the expense of fast food, tobacco, alcohol and other recreational activities. What happens if we erode the value of the pay-outs that is preventing the disturbed from being disturbing? The riots last year are probably a small taster of what is to come if the benefit bribe to the barbarians is reduced too drastically.
